The New Mainer’s Workforce Alliance (NeMeWA) was proud to receive a Diversity Initiative Award on Nov. 4th at the conference on "Capitalizing on Maine’s Demographics" held at the Abromson Community Education Center at USM in Portland. The conference was produced by the Diversity Hiring Coalition and Working Together. Several members of NeMeWA were present to receive the award, including Marc Chillemi (Goodwill Industries), Regina Phillips (City of Portland), Gerard Salvo (CEI), The Honorable Katherine O. McCary (Sun Trust Banks, Inc., Presenting the Award) and Deb Breiting (PAE). NeMeWA is a collaborative effort supported by the following employers and agencies: Avesta Housing, Catholic Charities Maine (CCM), City of Portland, Refugee Services, Coastal Enterprises, Inc (CEI), CareerCenter (DOL), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Goodwill Industries, Learning Works, Maine Medical Center, Holiday Inn, and Manpower. Its mission is to provide comprehensive employment services to refugees and immigrants to the Portland Community. Go NeMeWA!
